PriMed - Workflow optimization by integrated medical devices in the OR and clinic

The aim of the PriMed project in the pre-competitive area of medical technology research and development is to develop basic concepts and initial feasibility studies for the optimization of the perioperative workflow. The optimized processes should lead to better diagnosis and therapy results and conserving resources (personnel, technology and surgical capacities).

Regarding a clinic 4.0, this should be achieved by the use of an open, cross-manufacturer network. On this basis, integrated workstations for OR management, surgery and anesthesia as well as OR care are to be further developed. To guarantee a safe human-machine-interaction, modern methods and interfaces will be used. Thus, the combination and comprehension of patient-, process- and device-specific individual data provide a context and situation adapted information and decision support. To enhance the clinical workflow, device-specific information and functionalities must be available across disciplines and various areas of the hospital. The generated data (e.g. form surgery and anesthesia) will be transferred in knowledge-based expert systems.
