CeMPEG Usability Challenge on November 19, 2024

On 19.11.2024 the MediTEC Semester Welcome took place again together with the CUREMeD Usability Challenge in cooperation with the CeMPEG e.V. Interested students and guests were able to test the influence of good and bad usability of medical devices on test setups developed especially for this event. The handling of appropriately "prepared" surgical navigation systems as well as surgical telemanipulators with and without haptic guidance or training systems for minimally invasive endoscopic surgery allowed points to be collected and more or less existing design deficits of different "surgical workplaces" to be tackled. In addition, the influence of age-related physical limitations on the usability of medical devices could be experienced first-hand with special suits, test goggles and devices, or the usability of surgical foot control units and an integrated surgical workstation could be experienced at the "Footswitch Hero" test.

In addition, the students were able to fortify themselves with freshly baked waffles, mulled wine and other hot drinks, discuss questions about studying Medical Engineering with Prof. Radermacher and the staff of the Chair and had the opportunity to get to know our Chair and the non-profit Cempeg e.V. for the promotion of usability in medical engineering better.
