Mechanical Engineering Day 2026

On Saturday, June 20, 2026, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at RWTH Aachen University will host Mechanical Engineering Day for high school students starting at 11:00 a.m on the Melaten Campus (meeting point: the forecourt of the Institute of Plastics Processing, Seffenter Weg 201).

The Chair of Medical Engineering will be participating in this event in collaboration with CeMPEG e.V. The highlight of the program is the interactive CeMPEG Challenge, where visitors can gain hands-on experience with how the usability of medical devices affects safety in everyday clinical practice.

Surgical assistance systems allow users to use and compare navigation systems and telemanipulators, both with and without haptic feedback. Endoscopy training systems provide an introduction to minimally invasive surgery. Special suits and test goggles can be used to simulate physical limitations in order to demonstrate the accessibility of medical devices. In addition, surgical foot controls are being evaluated at an integrated workstation as part of the "Footswitch Hero" program.

Professor Radermacher and the Chair’s team are available to answer questions about academic studies and research in the field of medical engineering.
