Visit to DMEA 2024: Promoting Equal Opportunities for Female Students at RWTH Aachen University
As part of RWTH Aachen’s Promotion of Equality program, five female students were given the opportunity to attend DMEA 2024, Germany’s leading trade fair and conference for digital health, held in Berlin in April 2024. DMEA serves as an important platform for presenting innovations in medical informatics. During their visit, the students gained valuable insights into current trends and pressing topics in the field. They also developed a clearer understanding of the industry’s requirements and interacted with professionals from the health IT sector.
The event featured engaging expert lectures and productive discussions, which resulted in concrete offers for working student positions and thesis projects. Additionally, the participants took advantage of the DMEA Sparks program, designed to support university graduates in their transition to professional careers. This program included services such as application portfolio reviews and professional photography sessions.
Beyond these career-oriented opportunities, the trade fair also enabled the students to strengthen their ties with the Chair of Medical Engineering, leading to new roles as student assistants.
